Moldovan PM discusses priorities of cooperation with delegation of International Monetary Fund

Chisinau, 25 September /MOLDPRES/ -Prime Minister Dorin Recean has had a meeting with the delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), led by Clara Mira. The agenda of discussions included aspects on the consultations for 2023, the programme of crediting and the mechanisms of financing for resilience and sustainability, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.   

The PM referred to the march of reforms underway in the justice sector, progress in the country’s economic development, measures of backing the entrepreneurship and advancement on Moldova’s European agenda.   

„The justice reform and the anticorruption fight are among the most important priorities of the government. At the same time, we put emphasis on the economic development – it is necessary that we provide sustainability and predictability to the entrepreneurs. We also stimulate the investments in the energy efficiency sector, which will have a long-term positive impact both for the business environment and the communities from all over the country. In this respect, we rely on the support of the foreign partners, including IMF, for the creation of support policies,’’ PM Dorin Recean said.       

The participants in the meeting discussed also the importance of the cooperation with IMF in the process of backing Moldova’s European integration way, through the institutional consolidation, aligning with the European standards, as well as the minimization of the vulnerabilities related to the climate changes.  

The IMF Mission is in Moldova during 25 September – 6 October, in order to hold discussions within the consultations for 2023 on the fourth assessment of the programme supported through Extended Credit Facility (ECF) and Extended Fund Facility (EFF), as well as of the authorities’ request to provide support to Moldova, based on the new Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF).
