Special protection measures to Lake Hârbovăț, in event of detection of rocket debris

Chisinau, 28 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) has applied special protection measures to Lake Hârbovăț, Anenii Noi district. The actions were taken following the discovery of the rocket debris a day ago and the existence of suspicions that the explosive component could be found at the bottom of the lake.

According to the MAI, the access of people is currently prohibited in the area, and the police ensure the perimeter security. The national police, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, Carabineers and Border Police are on the spot.

Bombteh specialists of the General Police Inspectorate are also present there. They are considering the best solution to remove the explosive, assuming that its component could be found at the bottom of the lake. Specialists in the hydrotechnical field are undertaking water pumping actions from Hârbovăț lake to facilitate the intervention of pyrotechnic specialists.

Minister of Internal Affairs Adrian Efros is on site to inspect the forces and ensure that citizens and employees of the internal affairs system are and will act safely. 

Hârbovăț residents informed the authorities that in the nearby lake they noticed some components that could have come from a rocket, which would have crashed in that area. The authorities have confirmed that they are from an air missile, and the specialists will identify the type and origin of its manufacture.
