Chisinau, 29 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- Speaker Igor Grosu spoke at the European Conference of Speakers from the member states of the Council of Europe about the impact on our country of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.

The speaker said that the citizens and authorities of the Republic of Moldova have focused their efforts on turning challenges into opportunities to bring Moldova closer to the EU. He noted that the decision to open negotiations, which should be taken by the end of the year, would encourage the Moldovan citizens and would be a signal to Russia that its actions cannot prevent countries from deciding on the development their future. "Moldovan citizens and authorities have clearly expressed their choice in favor of the European future. Today, Moldova is stronger and more resilient than it was a year and a half ago," he said.

He assured that Moldova is ready to contribute to the restoration of international law and to support the reconstruction of Ukraine, noting that our country offers help in the demining of Ukraine, supports the Corridors of Solidarity for Ukraine, ensuring the transportation of grains to the regions where they are most needed and is gradually aligning with EU sanctions on Russia. "Ukraine is the one that is fighting for a free world, but it needs strong support, as long as it is needed", he said.
