Six financing agreements signed within Moldova Support Platform

Chisinau, Oct. 18 /MOLDPRES/- Moldova will benefit from financial support of 148.7 million euros, which includes 38.7 million euros as grants and 110 million euros - loans on favorable terms and for the development of strategic sectors.

According to the government's communication and protocol department, the support for infrastructure, energy and adaptation to climate change comes in the context of the signing of six financing agreements within the Moldova Support Platform, held on October 17 in Chisinau. The announcements of the participating countries and organizations regarding the general support offered to the Republic of Moldova are still being systematized and will be communicated in the coming days.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the French Development Agency and the German Bank on cooperation in the energy efficiency sector of public buildings. Another document signed concerns a new credit line offered by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for gas purchases and a grant awarded through the Norwegian Government's Nansen program, also for this purpose. To ensure the country's energy security, the Republic of Moldova will benefit from support from the European Investment Bank.

"Some funding will be disbursed starting next year, and our task is to develop the necessary mechanisms to ensure the absorption of these funds. It is important for us that every person in our country feels the positive effects of the projects carried out with the support of our partners", Minister of Energy Victor Parlicov said.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the French Development Agency. It creates the necessary conditions for reforming the forestry sector and regulating the forest management process.

The Memorandum of Understanding on consultancy and technical assistance services was signed between the Republic of Moldova and the European Investment Bank. "This support will help us deliver major projects in infrastructure, environment and energy that will benefit all our citizens," said Artur Mija, Secretary General of the Government.

Minister of Finance Petru Rotaru said that, following the signing of the documents, the Republic of Moldova will have access to various financing instruments that will boost the implementation of reforms in key areas.
