15:19 | 18.10.2023 Category: Official

Chisinau, 18 October /MOLDPRES/ - The national mechanism on the enforcement of the international sanctions, with which Moldova has aligned, will be optimized. The cabinet today took a decision to this end, in order to enforce the national plan on de-oligarchization, in the context of Moldova’s European agenda, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

One of the most important and complex measures is the one on the blocking of funds and economic resources of some private people or legal entities against whom international sanctions were imposed; for this reason, the draft is meant to clear up all problematic aspects as to the enforcement of this measure.

Thus, the main subjects regarded by the draft law and against whom it will be possible to enforce international restrictive measures are private people and legal entities of Moldova and from abroad, who committed deeds unanimously sanctioned in the world, assassinations or torture acts against people who tried to unmask illegal actions committed by foreign civil servants or, by their activity, aimed at defending the human rights recognized at the world level. Also, among the subjects, there are people who, while exercising an important public office nationally or internationally, are responsible for or accomplices in the arranging, control or management, in another way, of massive corruption deeds.

Under the draft law, the following international restrictive measures will be able to be enforced against these subjects: blocking of any funds or economic resources of these people, which are in Moldova and bans for on entry and transiting the territory of Moldova. If the deeds were committed by state/governments of states, as for these subjects, decision-makers can impose also certain restrictions of import, export, transit, services, transport or communications; embargo on weaponry or other strategic goods; full or partial suspension of the economic relations.

The draft law is to be submitted to parliament for consideration.
