Chisinau, 24 October /MOLDPRES/ - The University Centre of Simulation in Medical Training (CUSIM) of the Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF) has marked its tenth anniversary of the foundation through an anniversary session titled, Simulation in training, safety in actions.

The festive event was moderated by the centre’s head, Andrei Romancenco. He greeted the audience and thanked all partners – representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations, as well as the USMF’s administration for support in the centre’s creation and development.

The session was inaugurated by Health Minister Ala Nemerenco, who thanked all partners for contribution to the development of this ‘’pearl’’ of the University. „This centre is a model for the Eastern Europe region, especially in the training as to the providing of assistance in medical emergencies, especially in conditions of the war in the neighbourhood. The specialized training of some categories of physicians – first- line specialists, and namely traumatologists, reanimatology specialists, surgeons, is imminent. We are aware that each of us should give a helping hand to widen this centre, as the medicine does not imply only the physical contact with the patient; other forms of training can be implemented here, such as telemedicine or virtual training,’’ the minister noted.

„This anniversary is both an occasion of pride for us, and of reflection on the way we have covered and on our continuous commitment for the qualitative medical education. CUSIM is a simulation centre with international fame, which contributes to the training of the future physicians and improvement of the health system from Moldova. At the same time, the centre played a significant role in the accreditation of our university both nationally and internationally,’’ USMF Rector Emil Ceban said.

For his part, the deputy head for cooperation at the European Union’s Delegation in Moldova, Adam Grodzicki, said that EU had backed the construction and renovation of this centre with 4.4 million dollars, directed for the renovation of rooms and purchasing equipment. ‘’We are happy to see that our support really helped CUSIM at the implementation of new instruments and technologies, in order to align with the European standards. It is certain thing that the centre is well-managed and the resources are well-used for the benefit of Moldova, becoming an innovative entity not only nationally, bus also regionally,’’ the EU representative said.

In the end, diplomas of excellence were handed to all partners which contributed to the creation and development of CUSIM. The centre’s staff was awarded diplomas as well.
