Aid for cold season to increase from 700 to 800 lei per month

Chisinau, Oct. 26 /MOLDPRES/- Aid for the cold season will increase this year from 700 to 800 lei per month. Minister of Labor and Social Protection Alexei Buzu made the statement today.

According to the official, this year, the program was changed to simplify the procedure for providing aid for the cold period of the year. "We are approaching the cold season, a more difficult time for citizens. In this context, the Government and the ministry will come up with several initiatives and support programs. Thus, the payment will increase to 800 lei, compared to 700 lei last year. In two years of mandate, the Government increased the value of this aid by 60%. This year, the aid will be integrated into the energy compensation system to simplify the assistance process. Previously, citizens had to come to the city hall several times, with several documents, being a complicated, time-consuming process. That's why we decided to simplify the procedure. Thus, all data will be collected by the authorities based on the vulnerability system. For more information, citizens can contact the social worker. At the same time, the amendment will also simplify the work of social workers and ensure more rigorous control", said Alexei Buzu.

The minister said that the beneficiaries of the aid for the cold period of the year will be households with low incomes. Thus, the minimum consumption basket for a person in the rural area is 3,963 lei, and in the urban area - 4,663 lei.

To benefit from compensation for November, citizens must register in the system by November 25. Once registered, they will benefit from compensation throughout the cold period of the year. On November 26, citizens will receive an answer on the vulnerability category. Also on November 1, a telephone line will be launched, where citizens will be able to find out all the necessary information.

According to the authorities, this year, approximately 255 thousand households will benefit from aid for the cold period of the year. In the cold period 2023-2024, the budget for monetary compensation is about 1 billion 20 million lei. The amount required for the compensation awarded in the invoice will be announced on November 1.

Last year, the Government used 3 billion 738 million lei for the compensation program, without the aid for the cold period of the year.
