For first time, Moldova Fruct hosts delegation of most influential EU fruit and vegetable associations

Chisinau, Oct. 27 /MOLDPRES/- Moldova Fruct Association with the support of USAID Rural Competitiveness and Resilience Activity in Moldova hosted the documentation mission of the managers of the most representative and influential fruit and vegetable associations in the European Union, the World Apple and Pear Association (WAPA) and the European umbrella organization for the European fruit and vegetable sector (Freshfel Europe).

Following the invitation of the Moldova Fruct Association, the members of the delegation, representatives of the horticultural sector from Belgium, Italy, France, Germany and Poland, countries renowned in the fruit and vegetable industry, came with assistance in identifying opportunities for collaboration and support, necessary to adjust accordingly our fruit sector to the agricultural policies of the European Union. The delegation members had meetings and discussions with representatives of the Moldovan fruit sector and conducted market studies of local store chains.

"The final stage, that of negotiations between the European Union and the Republic of Moldova would involve a number of changes, including the adaptation of the Moldovan fruit sector to the rules and requirements of the European market, as well as the harmonization of legislation. Sometimes these processes proceed faster than the political one. It is for this reason this visit is important. The candidate country status is an important political move not only for the Republic of Moldova, but also for Europe", Freshfel Europe Secretary General Philippe Binard said.

State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Șarban said that this is an important event for fruit producers in the Republic of Moldova, being a signal that we are part of the circle of trust of development partners from the European Union.

Moldova Fruct Association has been an active member of the WAPA and Freshfel Europe for several years.
