Chisinau, 28 October /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova will switch to the winter time on the night of 28 to 29 October. Thus, on Sunday, 29 October, at 4:00, the clocks will be set back by one hour and this day will be the longest one in the year.

„Moldova’s government informs that, taking into account the fact that the country’s economy is connected to elements of the European Single Market, through the Moldova-European Union Association Agreement, concomitantly with the European Union member states, on 29 October 2023, the last Sunday of October, at 4:00, the switching to the winter time will take place all over the country, through setting the clocks by one hour back,’’ reads the government decision signed by Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

Moldova for the first time resorted to the switch to the winter time in 1979, in order to optimally use the natural light on the purpose of reducing the artificial illumination.

The switching to the summer time takes place in 70 countries, with the observance of the difference of the meantime zone.
