GENERAL LOCAL ELECTIONS-2023 in Moldova: Synthesis of 30 October

Chisinau, 30 October /MOLDPRES/ - The electoral agenda of the 30 October day included a news briefing held by the candidate of the Revival Party for the office of Chisinau general mayor, Vasile Bolea, on the transparency at the Chisinau city hall.  

„We have firmly committed on the way of transparency, integrity and openness, in order to turn the city hall into an institution which really serves the needs and aspirations of its citizens. I proposed practical measures, beginning with the setting of supervision cameras and enhanced cooperation with the anticorruption bodies, up to the transparent publication of documents and creation of open channels of communication with the citizens. All these initiatives are meant to reestablish the trust in the city hall and create a better, more transparent and more responsible Chisinau,’’ Vasile Bolea said.   

The president of the National Alternative Movement Party (MAN), Ion Ceban, gave a news conference, during which he presented the programme of administration as to the quality education and opportunities for young people.  

„The young people of the Chisinau municipality represent a valuable resource, which can support the sustainable development of the settlement, if they benefit from a string of conditions and services meant to work and explore the potential of young people. We want to have a city where all young people are active, able to fulfill their rights, the maximal potential and to contribute to the edification of an inclusive and sustainable community,’’ Ion Ceban said.     

The Central Electoral Commission (CEC), at a today’s meeting, accredited international observers and confirmed journalists for the coverage and monitoring of the general local elections due on 5 November 2023.  

Thus, CEC accredited 194 people as international observers on behalf of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights for the monitoring of the general local elections due on 5 November.  

At the same time, 11 journalists were confirmed on behalf of the VOCEA MEDIA (MEDIA VOICE) Ltd Company for the coverage and monitoring of the general local polls due on 5 November this year.

Also, the Central Electoral Commission informed that the students and pupils with right to vote, admitted to the education institution in the settlement where they are registered at the residence or temporary residence for less than three months till the date of the first round of the polls, will be able to participate in the general local elections due on 5 November 2023.    

The Central Electoral Commission reminds to the citizens with right to vote that they can demand the voting at the place of their stay at the general local polls dude on 5 November. Thus, the voter, who cannot go to the polling station for health reasons or other well-grounded reasons, should submit a written application, in order to ask the electoral bureau for the voting with the mobile ballot box.    

The electoral bureau will receive the applications until the day before the day of elections, i.e. on 4 November 2023, till 14:00. The voter can demand the voting at the play of his/her stay through the submission of a written application also on the day of elections, but with the presentation of a medical certificate. The electoral bureau will approve the application till 14:00.
