Chisinau, 30 October /MOLDPRES/ - More candidates of the Chance Party  for the offices of mayors and councilors in some settlements of Moldova run the risk of being excluded from the electoral race. The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today asked the inferior electoral bodies to cancel their registration.

The decision is to be taken by electoral bodies on 1 November 2023. Thus, it is about: the electoral council of the village electoral constituency Tarsitei, Telenesti district; Tareuca, Rezina district; Iscalau, Falesti district; Dobrogea Veche, Sangerei district; Merenii Noi, Anenii Noi district; Alexanderfeld, Cahul district; Pitusca, Calarasi district; Raculesti, Criuleni district and Joltai, Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia.

The CEC’s decision was taken following a notification received on behalf of the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS), General Police Inspectorate and its territorial subdivisions.

Thus, CEC found out „the illegal financing of the formation and of the electoral campaign, use of non-declared funds and connections with the former Shor political party, declared unconstitutional.’’

At the same time, CEC ruled to deprive the Chance Party from allocations on behalf of the state budget for a period of one year starting from 1 January 2024.

CEC‘s decision can be appealed at the Court of Appeal in a three-day term.

Attending the meeting, representatives of the Chance Party turned down the charges, stressing that ‘’the evidence presented would not be convincing.’’
