Chisinau, 1 November /MOLDPRES/ - The citizens, starting from today, can register on the platform www.compensatii.gov.md, in order to benefit from financial support on behalf of the state on the cold period of the year 2023-2024. The authorities launched the Help at Meter programme today.

At a news conference, Labour and Social Protection Minister Alexei Buzu stressed that only the citizens due to be registered in the system would benefit from compensations. ‘’This year, the people will enjoy two types of compensations – in invoice and in monetary form – the assistance for the cold period of the year (APRA) worth 800 lei, for the households which heat with wood or coal. To benefit from compensations on the cold period of the year, citizens can register in the system starting from today till 25 November. The process is quite easy and last about 15 minutes. Those who do not have technology or internet can appeal librarians or social assistants for help. At the same time, people can call and put all questions at the phone number 0 8000 5000. The information included on the platform will be verified in nine national databases. The value of the compensations will depend on the income of the family, historical consumption, family members, etc.,’’ Alexei Buzu said.

Attending the event, head of the EU Delegation in Moldova, Ambassador Jānis Mažeiks said that, for the second year in a row, EU was assisting the government to provide the citizens with support. ‘’The European Union is close to the citizens of Moldova. Thus, the needed resources were identified to back Moldova, a country which, after Ukraine, was worst hit by the war. Last year, more than 895,000 families benefited from compensations on the cold period of the year,’’ the official also said.

Also, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme in Moldova Daniela Gasparikova said that ‘’the organization will continue providing the government with support in the process of the energy transition, which targets the reduction of the households’ vulnerability.’’
