Identity cards, driving licenses to be available in digital format

Chisinau, Nov. 9 /MOLDPRES/- Several documents, including identity cards and driving licenses will be available in digital format. MPs voted a draft law in this regard in the final reading.

The legislative initiative will regulate the digitization of identity cards, driver's licenses, registration certificates, as well as some elements regarding their generation and use. Those documents in digital format will be used through the integrated government e-services application.

The Electronic Government Agency, with the financial support of the United Nations Development Program, is working on the development of the application, which will ensure user access to all electronic services based on personal electronic identity.

The project will also regulate the possibility of submitting the vehicle registration request online and the delivery of certificates and registration plates through the MDelivery. It is also proposed to set the obligation of the notary to submit, by means of an electronic service, to the Public Services Agency, the application for the registration of the legal document or the sale-purchase contracts and other documents related to real estate. 

The project was set up by the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, with the support of the Electronic Government Agency.
