Chisinau, Dec. 1 /MOLDPRES/- A final declaration and recommendations on authorities' efforts in European integration were adopted at the 14th meeting of the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee.

Parliamentary Association Committee reviewed the fulfillment of the requirements of Moldova's EU accession candidate status, especially those related to justice reform, security and country's economic situation.

The declaration's authors appreciate Moldova's significant efforts to deliver results on reform agenda and the authorities' determination to meet the nine recommendations set in the European Commission's opinion. In this context, the progress made in strengthening democracy and the rule of law, the increased involvement of civil society in decision-making, the preparation of public administration reform and legal reform, the fight against corruption and organized crime are welcomed.

In this context, the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee strongly appeals for the positive decision of the European Council to open negotiations with our country at the December meeting and adoption of the negotiation framework once the Republic of Moldova adopts a series of key measures.

They call on the European Commission to include the Republic of Moldova in the revised Pre-Accession Instrument (IPA III Regulation), as well as to increase its general budget, so as to allow our country to properly prepare for best use of funds of pre-accession.

The statement also covers the progress in the justice and the rule of law – the pre-evaluation procedure of the new members of the Superior Council of Magistracy and the Superior Council of Prosecutors, the restructuring of special investigative activities and the clear definition of the responsibilities of anti-corruption institutions. It refers to the systemic efforts undertaken by the Moldovan authorities in adjusting the regulatory framework to ensure the de-oligarchization of economic, political and public life, encouraging the authorities to continue working in order to complete the remaining recommendations from the European Commission's opinion.

Another chapter of the declaration is dedicated to the security and economic situation of the Republic of Moldova. The authors of the document strongly condemn the ongoing hybrid war of the Russian Federation against the Republic of Moldova, which seeks to move away from the European path. The document strongly denounces Russia's threats to invade Moldova, its plans to overthrow the democratically elected Government and Parliament of Moldova.

It also appreciates the financial support granted by the European Union to the Republic of Moldova in various sectors and the continuous solidarity of our country with Ukrainian refugees.

On Wednesday, the 14th meeting was held in Chisinau, which represents the parliamentary forum of the EU - Moldova Association Agreement.
