Chisinau, 6 December /MOLDPRES/ - The distribution of the financial allocations from the state budget for the performance sport will be made according to a different proportion. Thus, all national sports federations will be able to benefit from these allocations, not only those which achieved outstanding sports performances in the year before. A decision to this end was approved at a today’s cabinet meeting.

More exactly the distribution will take place as follows: 15 per cent - for the Olympic and Paralympic sports branches; 2 per cent – for the non-Olympic and non-Paralympic sports branches; 68 per cent – for the sports performances got at the Olympic/Paralympic and non-Olympic sports branches.; 15 per cent – financial means as reserve of the specialty central authorities in the field of physical culture and sport. Initially, the proportion was as follows: 15 per cent - for the Olympic and Paralympic sports branches; 65 per cent - for the sports performances got at the Olympic/Paralympic and non-Olympic sports branches; 20 per cent – financial means as reserve of the specialty central authorities in the field of physical culture and sport.

At the same time, the amendments of the Regulation see that the sports federations will be able to access additional financial means for the carrying out of the Olympic programmes and getting the quotas of participation in the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

„These amendments improve the mechanism of financing enforced for the first time ever this year, including through the extension of the financing for the Paralympic events. The initiative comes also out of the wish to ensure a better inclusion and to show, also through financial support, the nice results they achieve, including our Paralympic sportspeople. I want to say that, this year, our sportspeople got a record number of medals in Moldova’s history,’’ Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun said.

A new mechanism of financing the performance sport according to distinct criteria was used in 2023. Thus, the national sports federations received allocations from the state budget, based on the sports performances from the previous year.
