Moldovan, Latvian officials approach current issues

Chisinau, Dec. 7 /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu spoke on the phone with Prime Minister of Latvia Evika Silina, the presidential press service has reported.

The discussion focused on Moldova's evolution in the European Union accession process. The President announced the reforms implemented by our country and emphasized that Moldova will continue to advance in the European path.

At the same time, the head of state urged the Latvian authorities to support the decision to initiate negotiations with our country as soon as possible. The issue is to be debated at the European Council meeting on December 14-15.

Until then, the leadership in Chisinau will discuss with high-level officials of all EU member states to promote the importance of launching negotiations for the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union.
