Vetting Commission starts evaluation of candidates non-judges for offices in two specialized colleges of Moldova's Superior Council of Magistracy

Chisinau, 7 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Vetting Commission today informed that it started the evaluation of the candidates non-judges put forward by the parliament for the vacant positions in the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) and the candidates for offices in the two colleges of CSM: College for the selection and career of judges and the disciplinary College of judges.    

According to the quoted source, five candidates non-judges for CSM, registered in the contest after 1 September 2023, and 12 candidates for positions in the CSM’s specialized Colleges were notified about the initiation of the evaluation procedure.

The commission submitted to the evaluation subjects the forms of the Declaration of wealth and personal interests, which contain the list of close people from the judicial system, prosecutor’s office and the public service, as well as the form of the Ethics Questionnaire.   

The declaration is to be completed with relevant information and submitted to the Commission on a seven-day period after the date of the notification’s reception, while the Questionnaire will be filled in voluntarily. The Declaration of wealth and personal interests is a document which will include the incomes of the subjects for the last five years.  

If the candidates earlier have not been subjects of the declaring of wealth and personal interests, they are to fill in declarations of wealth and personal interests for each of the last five years (period 2018-2022), for which an yearly declaration was not submitted.

After the reception of documents, the Vetting Commission will carry out an analysis of the revenues and properties of the subjects and their families. The evaluation will be based on the extended analysis of the relevant data collected from the public information systems, from authorities and from the subsequent communications with the subjects.  

According to the quoted source, among the files of the candidates for CSM, submitted to the contest at the parliament, there are three persons who passed the evaluation of the Pre-Vetting Commission. They were not submitted to the Vetting Commission and will not be evaluated repeatedly. At the same time, among the candidates for CSM and CSM Colleges, there are subjects who applied for more positions concomitantly.
