Chisinau, 7 December /MOLDPRES/ - The foundation meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), voted at the general local elections from 5 November 2023, took place today.

The first meeting was chaired by the oldest councilor, Galina Dragan, elected on behalf of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS). She urged the councilors, during those four years, ‘’to work for the residents of the capital, in order to get as many achievements as possible.’’

The participants in the meeting confirmed the validity of the elections and the mandate of the elected mayor, Ion Ceban. ‘’The people voted for us to yield results. I urge you to everybody prove professionalism, dedication and much work, in order to solve the citizens’ problems. We rely on a constructive dialogue in the next years of mandate,’’ Ion Ceban said.

At the same time, the representatives of the parties from CMC stressed that ‘’the actions undertaken during the four years of mandate must be transparent and in the interest of the people.’’

The CMC factions are to be set up at the next meetings.

The Chisinau Municipal Council is made up of 51 councilors. Thus, PAS and the National Alternative Movement Party (PMAN) got 20 mandates each, the Party of Socialists – six mandates and the Party of Communists – two mandates. Another three councilor mandates were assigned to the candidates on behalf of the Revival Party, Dignity and Truth Platform and Our Party.

CMC represents the deliberative authority of the Chisinau city, while the mayor is the executive authority. CMC is summoned once per month and if the agenda requires this, it is summoned at extraordinary meeting.
