Chisinau, 11 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry (MAIA) today informed that it backed the initiative by the Farmers’ Federation of Moldova (FARM) on the creation of the first profile association in the vegetable growing sector – National Association of Vegetable Growers from Moldova (ANLRM).

The association will have the task to represent the interests of the producers of vegetables before the local, central and national authorities, to contribute to the improvement of the legislative framework and to the development of a friendly partnership for the transformation of the business with vegetables, to attract programmes and international financing sources, to facilitate the access to advanced technologies, to make an exchange of good practices, etc.

To achieve this goal, FARM will organize 11 regional assemblies during December 2023-January 2024.

“The transformation of the vegetable sector from Moldova into a competitive and modern one needs investments, easily accessible technologies and support on behalf of the authorities. To meet these conditions, it is necessary to adjust the agricultural policies to the real needs of the producers of vegetables. Presently, there is no organizational form in Moldova meant to act for their benefit. Or FARM, in partnership with the Rural Competitiveness and Resilience Activity in Moldova Project of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), launched the initiative on the creation of the first profile association in this sector - National Association of Vegetable Growers from Moldova,’’ the Farmers’ Federation said.
