Chisinau, Dec. 13 /MOLDPRES/- Sindy Vainshtein, a first-year student of the Faculty of Dentistry of the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Nicolae Testemițanu", became Moldova's Judo champion among seniors, in the 48 kilogram category.

Moldova Judo Championships among seniors was held in Chisinau, in memory of emeritus coach Vasile Colța.

Sindy has been practicing professional judo since 4 years old, and her achievements in the sport are due to her father, who, as a hobby, coaches and runs a judo club for children in Israel. Before coming to Moldova, she became Israel's judo champion 8 times, ranked 3rd at the European Cups and 5th at the European U21 Championships.

Sindy Vainshtein is currently representing Moldova in judo competitions. In September 2023, she ranked 9th at the World Judo Juniors Championships, and in October she won first place at Moldova U23 Judo Championships.

Over 170 athletes from the Republic of Moldova competed in the Judo Championship for the national champion title, in seven weight categories, for women and men. The competition was organized by the Judo Federation in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Research.
