More than one million citizens from north Moldova to benefit from emergency services of higher quality

Chisinau, 28 December /MOLDPRES/ - More than one million people from the Balti municipality and another 11 districts of Moldova will benefit from prompt emergency assistance. A new headquarters of the integrated dispatcher’s office for emergency situations NORTH from the Balti municipality was inaugurated in the presence of Prime Minister Dorin Recean today. Attending the event were Interior Minister Adrian Efros, Head of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) Alexandru Oprea, representatives of local public authorities from the region, the government’s communication department has reported.    

The prime minister said that the infrastructure set up at the object would contribute to shortening of the intervention time in any emergency situation and to enhancing the citizens’ safety.    

„The government’s priority is always the same – the life and well-being of the citizens. Today, we have an improved, advanced system, in order to ensure this priority. After the 112 Service switches to the Interior Ministry’s management, the ambulance physicians will come here, to this dispatcher’s office as well,’’ PM Recean said at the event.    

„This dispatcher’s office will be the place where the rescuers, firemen and physicians will be on duty, in order to act promptly at citizens’ request. A huge work has been carried out in a record time, during one year. We prove once again that we are reliable partner for EU. This is a twin centre of the one due to be inaugurated in Iasi (Romania). We build everything in the spirit of the European values,’’ Minister Adrian Efros said.     

The North dispatcher’s office hosts the specialized services of rescuers, firemen and policemen. It ensures the taking over and the management of the emergency situations in the Balti municipality, as well as in the districts of Briceni, Ocnita, Donduseni, Edinet, Soroca, Drochia, Floresti, Rascani, Glodeni, Falesti and Sangerei.     

The construction of the new headquarters was financed with European funds, within the Joint Operational Programme Romania – Moldova 2014-2020. The overall value of the project is of over 3.2 million euros, 2.5 million euros being investment as grant.
