Bad weather managed by Emergency Operations Center

Chisinau, 8 Jan. /MOLDPRES/- Emergency Operations Center (CDSE) started operating last night at the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) to monitor the situation in the country related to bad weather conditions. The Center is staffed by officials from ministries who have the competence to take decisions for risk prevention, as well as prompt action in the case of bad weather conditions.

The CDSE managers monitor the situation on the routes and in the localities of the country, the disconnection from power and collaborate with the local commissions for emergency situations to manage the situation.

According to the latest CDSE reports, to reduce the predicted impact on the risk profile of "children", the Commission for Emergency Situations of Balti submitted proposals to extend the holidays for children until January 10.

According to data from electricity suppliers, as a result of orange code and complicated weather conditions, precipitation in the form of sleet and snow with strong wind, 57 localities in seven districts were partially disconnected from power. To prevent risk situations, and to liquidate the consequences related to bad weather conditions, 760 specialists of the subdivisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as road workers are operating in the country.

212 technical units and 170 people have been involved in cleaning and distributing anti-skid material, with 2310.8 tons of anti-skid material being used.

The authorities continue to urge people to take into account the bad weather conditions and avoid travelling. According to the forecasts, on January 8 it will snow heavily (15-20 l/m2), there will be isolated thunderstorms, strong wind gusting up to 15-20 m/s are expected, the average daily air temperature will drop by 10 -15°C, compared to the weather of the last period.
