Moldovan PM discusses with international companies' representatives in Davos

Chisinau, 19 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean, at the World Economic Forum in Davos, has had a string of meetings with representatives of international companies. The sides discussed perspectives of the cooperation in diverse key sectors for Moldova’s economic development, the government’s communication department has reported.    

At a meeting with representatives of Menzies Aviation, PM Dorin Recean referred to the importance of consolidation of Moldova’s position in the field of airport services and the country’s intention to establish new partnerships for the development of the aviation sector. ‘’We want to bring international companies, which are to provide quality services to our citizens. We create friendly conditions and a safe environment for the launch of businesses and attraction of investments to Moldova and we work for a prosperous economy, which is to be expressed in the welfare of the each citizen,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.       

For their part, the representatives of Menzies Aviation showed interest in the market of Moldova and openness for continuing the dialogue on the next period. Menzies Aviation is a company with a history of 200 years and with more than 45,000 employees.    

During a dialogue with the senior partner, member of the administrative board and head of the European offices of the company McKinsey, Massimo Giordano, the prime minister touched upon the strategies of stimulation of the innovation and sustainable economic growth, with emphasis on such fields as information technology, infrastructure and sectors with high development potential.         

At the same time, the Moldovan PM invited representatives of the Citibank to analyze opportunities of investment in Moldova: ‘’The government provides support to any company willing to invest in Moldova.’’   

At a meeting between the Moldovan prime minister and representatives of the Google Company, the sides proposed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for strategic cooperation in digital transformation, economic growth and social development, exploring also the monetization of the YouTube Company in Moldova.    

Prime Minister Dorin Recean also held discussions with the president of the administrative board of the ING Group, Karl Guha, on the organization of an event of the type, Moldova Capital Markets Day, in a European city. The PM invited the French-Dutch group to extend its business in Moldova.  

The prime minister and representatives of the Schneider company, specialized in the digitalization of power networks, discussed the development of the electrification, Moldova’s orientation to the renewable energy and the carrying out of a project on distribution of electric energy for the North Electric Energy Supply (FEE Nord), which is to cut the costs for consumers.       

A meeting with the deputy president of Huawei Technologies, Lu Yong, was focused on projects on the progress made in the field of green energy and on cooperation of implementing projects on the development of capacities of storing energy for Moldova. The subject on energy projects was discussed also with Morten Dyrholm,   the senior deputy president of Vestas Wind Systems, one of the world leaders of systems producing wind energy. ‘’On this segment, there is much potential and we found out that there is interest in developing it in Moldova,’’ said the world leaders in the production of systems of producing wind energy.   

In Davos, PM Dorin Recean had meetings also with representatives of other companies, whom he invited to Moldova, noting that, despite the Russian aggression in Ukraine, the region’s economy was recovering. The discussions were focused on the immediate opportunities which Moldova can provide, as well as on long-term projects dealing with the process of accession to the European Union.
