Book about medieval orthodox establishments launched at Moldova's National Library

Chisinau, 23 January /MOLDPRES/ - A book titled, ”Relațiile Țării Moldovei cu așezămintele ortodoxe din străinătate (sfârșitul sec. al XIV-lea – sec. XVII –lea) (The Relations of the Land of Moldavia with the Orthodox Establishments from abroad (end of the 14th century – 17th century), signed by Viorel Bolduma and Maxim Melinti, was launched at the National Library of Moldova (BNRM) today.   

In the beginning of the event, BNRM director Elena Pintilei said that this book represented an important scientific work, which turns to good account some of the collections of the National Library, as well as of the ones from the entire Romanian space. ‘’This book is a brick laid at the foundation of the studying of the history of the Christianity, of the history of the Land of Moldavia and even of Europe,’’ Elena Pintilei stressed.   

Contacted by MOLDPRES, the history professor, university lecturer Viorel Bolduma said the subject of research of this study represented the relations of the Land of Moldavia with the Apostolic patriarchies, with the monasteries from the Holy Mount Athos, with the Orthodox Brotherhood from Lviv and the Orthodox Centre of Kiev, in the person of Metropolitan of Kiev Petru Movila.      

In the context, academician Andrei Esanu highlighted that the work would arouse the interest of young researchers to further study the history of the ecclesiastic centres from the medieval period.   

The book has 264 pages and was published with the financial support of the Culture Ministry.
