Moldovan PM meets foreign affairs minister of Canada

Chisinau, 30 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Foreign Affairs Minister of Canada Mélanie Joly have discussed the consolidation of the Moldovan-Canadian relations, promotion of the economic and investment priorities, negotiation of an agreement on social protection for the benefit of the Moldovan citizens living in Canada, as well as the latest developments in the region, the government’s communication department has reported.   

The PM appreciated the cooperation of the authorities from both states in the implementation of the regime of international sanctions against the private people and legal entities, who undermine the rule of law state and the security of Moldova and these authorities established a continuous coordination of the joint efforts to this end.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean stressed that the authorities stayed focused on the modernization of the infrastructure, ensuring of peace and security, reformation of justice and the country’s economic improvement, including through the attraction of new investments. The official referred to projects dealing with the energy efficiency of the  public buildings with social purpose, including kindergartens, hospitals. schools, carrying out of projects needed for the interconnection of the networks of natural gas and electric energy from Moldova, Romania and Ukraine, as well as the rehabilitation of regional roads.

For her part, Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly said that her country backed the democratic and European way of Moldova. She gave assurances that Canada’s support would be provided in all key sectors, including the one of security and defence.
