Moldovan parliament speaker meets Canadian diplomacy head

Chisinau, 30 January /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu today met Foreign Affairs Minister of Canada Mélanie Joly, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

At the meeting, Igor Grosu said that Canada was a big supporter of the European integration way of Moldova, as well as of Ukraine. He thanked Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly for this fact during the discussion at the parliament’s headquarters.

At the same time, the officials referred to the way the two countries can advance in the bilateral cooperation and consolidation of the parliamentary diplomacy: ‘’The expertise, training and assistance from which we benefit on behalf of Canada is important in the development of the national defense and security sector.’’ In the context, thanking for the fact that the Canadian authorities aligned with other European countries and imposed sanctions to the Moldovan oligarchs, Igor Grosu said: ‘’This is an extra proof that the justice reform and the fight against corruption advance.’’    

Also, another subject regarded the community of Moldovans from Canada and the sides agreed on deepening this cooperation for the benefit of the Moldovans.
