Chişinău, 1 feb. /BTA/. Graphic designers from Moldova use their talent and creativity to urge the people of Taraclia to pay attention to social issues. Twenty thematic posters were presented in an exhibition, "Civic Activism through Graphic Design", at the Children's Art School of Taraclia Region with the centre of Bulgarians in Moldova. The exhibition will be open for two weeks, offering visitors the opportunity to learn about and reflect on various aspects of social issues in the country, such as gender inequality, participation in public, political and cultural life, the rights of people with special needs.

The posters are the result of a "Wake Up Camp" project in which 20 graphic designers participated. At the camp, young people were trained by the country's top experts on how to use their professional skills for civic engagement in their communities.

"After completing the courses, the Wake Up Camp alumni were given a month to create their own visual campaigns on various social issues facing our society," explained Klumea Director Nata Albot.

"With this event we are talking to the younger generation about the social issues in our society. But talking about it is one thing, what then? We try in every way to show the youth that we have problems in our society and these problems require their involvement," Albot told BTA.

The Klumea non-governmental organization was established in 2013.

The project "Wake Up Camp: Graphic Designers Edition" is implemented by Klumea and Internet' Graieste with the support of USAID and the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation in Moldova.
