Chisinau, 20 February /MOLDPRES/ - Law-enforcers today warned that messages with false content on behalf of public institutions’ heads were distributed to citizens’ emails.
According to the General Police Inspectorate (IGP), to enhance the reliability of the swindle, cyber offenders use the logos of the public institutions and the names of their heads.
„People send to the email a forged summons, in which the addressee is accused of a sexual offence. In order not to be arrested, offenders demand that the addressee provides additional information and afterwards financial means. The goal of this kind of forged message, spread in the online environment, is to extort money from victims,’’ IGP noted.
In the context, policemen urge citizens to be vigilant and to be informed from official sources. If you received such a message on your email, notify the police at the 112 phone number.
