PM attends general assembly of Moldovan National Farmers' Federation

Chisinau, 23 February /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean has participated in the General Assembly of the National Farmers’ Federation of Moldova. The PM referred to the measures undertaken by the government in this sector. Recean noted that the authorities stayed involved in the identification of solutions to the problems from the agricultural sector and providing the instruments necessary for the enhancement of the productivity and industrialization of the branch.    

According to the prime minister, the subsidization fund for the agricultural sector amounts to 1.6 billion lei plus grants of 1.5 billion lei for the animal husbandry sector and fruit growing, as well as for the rehabilitation of the irrigation systems. Also, the producers of cereals who recorded losses because of the last years’ crises will be able to demand, as of 1 March, an emergency agricultural loan due to allow them starting the spring agricultural season. The new mechanism stipulates that the micro- and small enterprises will be able to benefit from loans worth up to 500,000 lei with a 90-per cent guarantee on behalf of the state.       

„We will continue identifying additional means and to stimulate the investments in the advanced agriculture. At the same time, we will focus on the financial instruments of long-term crediting and our approach will always be according to the principle of providing the targeted assistance,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.  

The participants in the assembly touched upon the challenges in the agriculture field, the need to establish a balance between the big and small producers, as well as about the opportunities opened by the status of country candidate for accession to the European Union. ‘’One representative of the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry will be permanently delegated to Brussels, in order to negotiate the programmes due to support our farmers,’’ PM Dorin Recean stressed.
