Discover Moldova with #MOLDPRES: Top 5 tourist events of spring

Chisinau, 1 March /MOLDPRES/ - Once the spring has come, the country’s cultural agenda is revived with a string of captivating events. Moldova becomes an inviting destination for people willing to discover its cultural beauty and its authentic traditions. In this article, we will explore five of the most important tourist events from our country on the spring period, which worth being attended.  

Martisor International Music Festival

Martisor will reach those 32 districts of Moldova for the first time ever. During March, 43 concerts will be organized in 43 villages and cities every day, with the support of the government and the Culture Ministry.  You can see the schedule here.

6 Mai - Hederlez – Holiday of horse races

Hederlez is a loved holiday in the Gagauz culture, marking the beginning of the New Year for breeding cattle. In Ceadar-Lunga, this day is celebrated by a festival full of life, accompanied by horse races, people’s games and exhibitions by traditional craftsmen. A special event is the biggest exhibition of horses from the country, organized by the horse farm At Prolin, where one can admire gracious Orlov Trotters. Hederlez is a wonderful occasion to experiment the Gagauz traditions and to participate in diverse cultural and recreation activities.    

18 May – International Museum Day

In 1977, the International Council of Museums (ICOM) confirmed the date of 18 May as International Museum Day, in order to emphasize the special importance of these cultural institutions in the evolution of the society. This day represents recognition of the museums’ essential contribution to the development of culture and to the mutual understanding between peoples.  

Each year, on 18 May, all over the world, the history, science and art are honoured through a variety of special programmes held at the museums, thus attracting people’s attention to the value and diversity of the world cultural heritage.   

The details as the schedule of events on the International Museum Day are to be subsequently announced by the authorities and organizers.   

19 May – Sweet Acacia Flower Festival 

Each year, in May, the Valeni village, a picturesque settlement placed on the banks of the Prut river, hosts the ethno-folkloric festival, Sweet Acacia Flower. In a glade embellished by blooming acacia trees, this festival attracts folk bands from the entire region, as well as from the neighbouring counties of Romania. The event brings together people fond of folk dances and songs, along with those interested in the century-old traditions of our nation.       

25 May – Sparkling Party

In the beginning of the summer period, the Cricova wine cellar will host the Sparkling Party – an event of tasting sparkling wines. The elegant and relaxing atmosphere will be accompanied by jazz music, offering to the participants a memorable evening, during which they enjoy the fragrances and bouquets of fine wines. The occasion is perfect for exploring and enjoying the experience of a place full of tradition and prestige in the world of wines.
