Antalya, 2 March /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi has had meetings with the foreign affairs ministers of Switzerland, Hungary, Kazakhstan and Serbia, on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.

The Moldovan minister and Foreign Affairs Minister of the Swiss Confederation Ignazio Cassis discussed the consolidation of the Moldova-Switzerland cooperation.

„I appreciated the support of Switzerland provided to Moldova in the economic field, the one of health and education. Another subject tackled was the situation in the region, in the context of the war in Ukraine. I noted that there was peace in Moldova thanks to the resistance of our Ukrainian neighbours, for which we are grateful to them,’’ Mihai Popsoi said.

The discussion with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Szijjártó Péter was focused on perspectives of deepening the bilateral cooperation and Moldova’s progress in the process of accession to the European Union.

„In the context, the Hungarian official stressed the Budapest officials’ willingness to share the experience and practices of his country. I thanked for the support provided to our country and we agreed on paying a working visit to Hungary in the near future,’’ the Moldovan official said.

Minister Popsoi and Foreign Affairs Minister of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu discussed Moldova’s intention to open a diplomatic mission in Astana. The presence of an embassy in Kazakhstan will substantially contribute to the strengthening of the Moldovan-Kazakh relations in diverse fields of mutual interest. The officials agreed on boosting the bilateral communication and the Kazakh official was invited to visit Moldova.

During a meeting with his Serbian counterpart Ivica Dačić, Deputy PM  Popsoi approached topical subjects on the bilateral agenda.

„I reconfirmed Moldova’s willingness to continue deepening the Moldovan-Serbian relations in different fields. We discussed the situation in the region, as well as in the Transnistrian region. I said that the situation was stable in Moldova. I thanked for the invitation to visit Serbia. Today at the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, I referred to the world food security, as well as to the one in the region, in the context of Russia’s war against Ukraine,’’ the Moldovan official noted.

„I discussed an important and urgent problem – the ensuring of the food security, seriously hit by Russia’s continuous actions and our joint efforts to achieve this crucial goal.

The initiative on the transit of wheat through the Black Sea was the result of the solidarity of the international community and it showed the determination to act together, in order to back the people of Ukraine, as well as the nations from all over the world, which need these Ukrainian agricultural products.

I confirmed our solidarity with the Ukrainian nation, as well as the willingness to continue providing political, diplomatic and humanitarian support to Ukraine.

The war in the neighbour country caused serious consequences regionally and globally. Diverse sectors of the national economies are hit – energy, food, security. Moldova is not an exception. But we understand that our assistance for Ukraine stays important and we are prepared to continue it,’’ Minister Popsoi added.
