Sappers destroyed 18 explosive devices in February

Chisinau, March 5. /MOLDPRES/- National Army sappers neutralized 18 explosive objects throughout the country in February.

According to the senior officer, major Ivan Cornegruţa, the sappers carried out eight demining missions. Artillery shells of different calibers, grenade launchers and hand grenades were found and destroyed. All the ammunition was from the World War II.

The dangerous objects were discovered in Chisinau, Dubăsari, Ialoveni, Ștefan Vodă, Leova, Anenii Noi and Hâncești.

The largest amount of ammunition was found in the city of Ștefan Vodă, where the team of Codru Battalion, led by Major Ion Golovei, intervened. Nine artillery shells, a grenade launcher, and an F-1 hand grenade were identified and destroyed following construction work at a PECO gas station.

Since the beginning of the year, the National Army sappers have executed 10 demining missions and destroyed 20 explosive objects.

The genius service of the National Army warns that during the agricultural work season the possibility of discovering unidentified explosive objects in the soil increases.
