Well-known Moldovan departed actor commemorated at Moldova's Academy of Sciences

Chisinau, 19 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Academy of Sciences of Moldova (ASM), the Centre of Study of Arts of the Institute of Cultural Heritage and the Știința (Science) Editorial and Poly-graphic Enterprise today organized a round table titled, Actor Mihai Volontir: Harmony of contraries, at the ASM’s headquarters. The event is dedicated to the 90th birthday anniversary of the departed theatre and film actor, Mihai Volontir.     

Contacted by MOLDPRES, Ana-Maria Plamadeala, a PhD in the study of arts, the coordinator of a book about Mihai Volontir, which appeared at the Science publishing house, said that the departed actor has been a profound personality. ‘’He was able to show our ancestral soul to the mankind,’’ Plamadeala said. She stressed that Volontir had been an inconceivably complex and interesting person.   

During 57 years of work, Mihai Volontir played over 120 parts in theatre and movies. He was awarded the State Prize of the Soviet Moldovan Republic (RSSM) (1973), National Prize of Moldova (1991), National Prize of Russia (1984), Prize Vasilyev Brothers of Russia (1980), silver medal Pyotr Dovzhenko (1978), the Dimitrie Cantemir medal of Moldova’s Academy of Sciences (ASM), the honorific titles People’s Artist of RSSM (1974) and People’s Artist of the USSR (1984).    

Mihai Volontir was elected MP in the first parliament of Moldova, in 1990-1994. He was one of the 278 lawmakers who voted for the Declaration of Independence of the Republic of Moldova on 27 August 1991.
