Sixty two per cent of Moldova's settlements have access to water supply public systems

Chisinau, 22 March /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 907 settlements of Moldova’s settlements have access to water supply public systems, which accounts for 62 per cent of all settlements. The data was unveiled in the context of marking the World Water Day.    

According to the National Public Health Agency (ANSP), 98 per cent of the residents from the urban settlements and 60 per cent from the rural environment has had access to water supply public systems, according to statistics data for the 2022 year.

According to the quoted source, the title of the World Water Day is Water for peace this year and attracts attention to the fact that the water plays a critical role for the stability, peace and prosperity of the world, being an essential component for the sustainable development.  

In the context, ANSP organized a public action titled, Water for Health, the goal of which is to be aware of the water’s role for life and health. The participants in the event will provide information on the role of the water for the health, prevention of the water-conditioned diseases, the importance of the access to drinking water for the welfare and decent conditions for living, measures of protection of water sources.    

ANSP laboratory specialists will show simple tests in water samples, such as: determining the electric conductivity with establishing the total level of water’s mineralization, establishing the PH, of turbidity, level of residual chlorine in water. Such events will also be held concomitantly in Edinet and Soroca.
