Chisinau, April 1 /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea held a press briefing today. He announced a platform for dialogue between sunflower seed producers and processors on the local market. "We discussed key issues and viable solutions related to the production and marketing of sunflower seeds and oil, the establishment of actual quantities in stocks, marketing prices and payment terms," he said.

According to the official, it is important that processors rely primarily on locally produced raw materials, thus supporting domestic agricultural producers.

The meeting also focused on the need for prompt payment for goods previously delivered by farmers so that they can plan their payments. The next working meeting will take place in the same format next week, where the dialogue will continue and existing stocks will be analysed, while identifying economic operators willing to sell their production on the internal market.

It was also announced that in March (in the first month of launch), 126 applications for Emergency Agricultural Credit were received, with a total amount requested of over 40 million lei.

Micro and small farmers who grow cereals can obtain loans of up to 500,000 lei, 90% of which is guaranteed by the state. The instrument can be accessed even by those whose loans are placed in the substandard category. To benefit from this credit, farmers must apply to commercial banks by 31 May 2024. Farmers' applications are assessed according to individual bank procedures.
