Moldovan president conveys congratulatory message on International Roma Day

Chisinau, April 8 /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has come up with a congratulatory message for Roma citizens on International Roma Day, wishing them health and well-being.

"The history and culture of the nation from which you come from are invaluable for our European heritage, which celebrates and values diversity," the head of state said. The President underlined that International Roma Day is yet another opportunity to raise awareness of the need for communion, understanding and all actions to combat discrimination and ensure integration into society.

"I have always admired you for your talent, your freedom-loving soul, promoting secular traditions. Today I see that more and more representatives of the Roma community participate in the life of society, take part in the decision-making process, have access to posts and positions in the state, are deputies, local councillors, heads of agencies and advisors", she said.

The president also said she appreciates that more and more Roma parents are choosing a better future for their children, a European future that goes through school. 

The official also urged to "cooperate, help each other and go firmly on the European integration path!"
