PHOTO USMF "Nicolae Testemitanu" marked World Health Day

Chisinau, April 10 /MOLDPRES/- On World Health Day, Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF) in partnership with the Association of Medical Students and Residents of Moldova (ASRM) organized several actions to promote healthy lifestyle, awareness of physical and mental well-being.

Attending the event Health Minister Ala Nemerenco said that the slogan of this year's World Health Day is - My Health, My Right. "The human right to health is a fundamental one and must be respected by governments and citizens. The right to health includes access to health services, education and health information. The Ministry of Health invests a lot to create high quality services, I mean modern hospitals, primary health care institutions, professional medical staff", said Nemerenco.

For his part, pro-rector for social activity Marcel Abraș said that by marking World Health Day we have the opportunity to talk to the public about health. "It is important to remove risk factors and change our lifestyle. Let's say no to smoking, sedentary lifestyle, high salt consumption and let's say yes to healthy lifestyle and prophylactic check-up with specialists", he said.

The actions' agenda included counselling services by cardiologists, endocrinologists and gynaecologists - representatives of the university's disciplines, family doctors and nurses from the University Primary Health Care Clinic of USMF "Nicolae Testemitanu". They measured blood pressure, blood glucose and body mass index, distributed information materials on diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, active and healthy lifestyle.

Representatives of the Faculty of Dentistry - teachers, resident doctors and students - members of the Dental Students' Association - provided information on oral health hygiene, risk factors and preventive measures for dental diseases, prophylaxis of dental caries in children, foods and drinks harmful to teeth.

Pediatrics Department of the USMF "Nicolae Testemitanu" in partnership with the Moldovan Pediatric Society and ASRM conducted lessons in schools.
