Famous American companies invited to investigate potential of geothermal energy in Moldova

Chisinau, April 10 /MOLDPRES/- Visiting the US, Energy Minister Victor Parlicov has met with Tim Stewart, President of the Oil and Gas Association, and representatives of Chevron, a liquefied natural gas (LNG) producer.

Parlicov stressed the importance of Moldova's access to American liquefied natural gas as an alternative source to reduce dependence on Russian natural gas.

He highly appreciated that the US has managed in a short period of time to become the world's largest exporter of liquefied gas, and large companies have been invited to explore export possibilities to Moldova, Romania and Bulgaria, where the consumption of Russian energy resources is decreasing significantly.

Parlicov invited American oil companies to take part in prospecting for the potential of geothermal energy in Moldova.

According to the Ministry of Energy, overseas companies using innovative technologies could contribute to the development of sandboxes used for testing new energy technologies.
