Government approved financing program - Moldovan Residential Energy Efficiency Fund

Chisinau, April 10 /MOLDPRES/- Owners of individual houses and condominium owners' associations will be able to receive grants and allowances for energy efficiency. The Cabinet has approved the financing program - Moldovan Residential Energy Efficiency Fund (MREEF).

The programme aims to renovate a heated area of at least 507 thousand square metres of buildings in the residential sector, i.e. about 8500 apartments, or about 5000 individual houses. Also, by 2027, energy savings of at least 66.9 million kWh are to be achieved in households, equivalent to more than 100 million lei.

Improving the energy performance of residential buildings is the most sustainable way to reduce the impact of high energy prices and tariffs on the population. This year, more than 300 million lei have been allocated for the implementation of energy efficiency measures in the residential sector.

The programme's goals are set for 2024-2027, and financial resources amounting to about 1.4 billion lei are needed for their implementation, which will be used through the National Centre for Sustainable Energy.
