Chisinau, April 12 /MOLDPRES/ - Regional security challenges in the context of the Russian Federation's brutal war against Ukraine, as well as issues related to the Transnistrian settlement process were discussed at a meeting between Prime Minister Dorin Recean and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Minister for Foreign, Trade and European Affairs of Malta Ian Borg.

Recean appreciated Malta's support for Moldova's European agenda and stressed the OSCE's role in finding lasting solutions to the Transnistrian conflict. Moldovan authorities continue the dialogue with the Transnistrian side and further opt for a peaceful solution to the conflict and the creation of a balance between ensuring the country's security and the needs of society.

"The government's actions are aimed at improving the lives of citizens on both the right and left banks, and our priority objective remains Moldova's integration into the great family of the European Union," Recean said.

The officials discussed the country's energy security, developing trade with the European Union and promoting human rights. On the Transnistrian conflict, the 1+1 negotiation format was encouraged, as well as other measures aimed at strengthening confidence between the sides.
