BTA: Wrestler Kimia Alizadeh receives Bulgarian passport, to compete in Paris Olympics

Chisinau, April 13 /MOLDPRES/- Famous wrestler Kimia Alizadeh, who is ranked by BBC among the 100 most influential women in the world, has got a Bulgarian passport and will be able to compete for Bulgaria at the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris. She will be the first Bulgarian taekwondo athlete to compete in the Olympics, BTA has reported.

The first test for Kimia will be the European Championships, which will be held in early May in Belgrade.

Kimia Alizadeh, born in Iran, was the first woman in the history of that country to win a medal at the Summer Olympics. This happened in Brazil at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in the 57kg category, when she won bronze after defeating Nikita Glasnovic.
