Chisinau, April 15 /MOLDPRES/ - The rules for crossing Moldova's border have not changed, and people will be allowed to cross on the basis of the same documents as before. The Interior Ministry (MAI) made the statement today in the context of Romania's entry into the Schengen area.

According to MAI, the conditions for entry into EU/Schengen member states for non-EU nationals are as follows: to be in possession of a valid travel document allowing the holder to cross the border and valid for at least three months from the expected date of departure from the territory of the member states, as well as its issuance within the last 10 years.

It is also important that the person justifies the purpose and conditions of the intended stay and has sufficient means of subsistence, both for the duration of the intended stay and for the return to the country of origin or transit to a third country where admission is guaranteed, or is in a position to acquire such means lawfully.

On 31 March, Romania and Bulgaria became members of the Schengen area.
