Moldovan deputy premier meets Venice Commission president

Chisinau, April 15 /MOLDPRES/ - On the sidelines of the spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi met with Venice Commission President Claire Bazy - Malaurie.

They discussed the main developments in our country's reform process. He thanked for the Venice Commission's support through the opinions adopted for draft laws, in particular on the fight against corruption, reform of the judiciary and electoral processes.

They also noted national efforts on the effective evaluation of judges and prosecutors, recent achievements and challenges.

"Claire Bazy - Malaurie highlighted the importance of an effective dialogue and constructive cooperation between all the actors concerned in order to identify best solutions for building democratic institutions and an independent and efficient judiciary, reiterating the readiness of the Venice Commission to continue to provide the necessary assistance in the context of the reform processes and the European path of the Republic of Moldova.

In this context, thanks were expressed for the contribution of the Republic of Moldova to the effective work of the Venice Commission", Popsoi said.
