Two reading rooms with free access to shelf to be inaugurated at Scientific Medical Library of USMF "Nicolae Testemitanu"

Chisinau, April 22 /MOLDPRES/- Two reading rooms with free access to the shelf will be inaugurated at the Scientific Medical Library (BȘM) of the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF) "Nicolae Testemitanu". The institutional premiere aims to ensure users' access to medical and pharmaceutical information resources.

The event will be held on 23 April at 10:00 am on Librarian Day and World Book and Copyright Day, marked annually on 23 April.

Attending the event will be rector Emil Ceban, vice-rectors, deans, vice-deans, teaching staff, students and librarians of BSM.

The new information space consists of two reading rooms with free access to the bookshelf for 150 visitors, three rooms for group study, with a total of 18 seats, and Infomedica Centre with 19 seats, which will ensure users' access to electronic medical and pharmaceutical information resources. The reading rooms are mainly intended for students and the book collections are mainly made up of educational publications in Romanian, English, Russian and French - textbooks, compendia, lecture notes, lesson texts, methodological guidelines etc. Users will have access to databases, electronic libraries, resources focusing on evidence-based medicine and other information products.

The reading area also includes Dr. Richard Koch book collection - one of the largest personal collections of old and rare medical books in Europe, representing considerable bibliophilic value. It contains 2,638 copies in several languages (German with Gothic characters, Latin, French, Greek etc.), most of them medically themed.
