The official said he still relies on the efforts of the media to correctly inform citizens and fight lies and propaganda.

"We thank all media representatives who do their job with great fairness and honour, those who inform the citizens of Moldova and I am saying it not as the speaker, but as a citizen who starts every day reading the press. There are tens of thousands of people doing the same thing and it is very important that these people are informed correctly. Together we will succeed in moving towards a free, peaceful, rich - European - world", said Igor Grosu.

World Press Freedom Day is celebrated every year on 3 May. This day was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 1993, following a recommendation adopted at the 26th session of the UNESCO General Conference in 1991.
