Chisinau, May 5 /MOLDPRES/ - Orthodox Christians are celebrating today Easter, considered the Christianity's greatest holiday, which signifies the Resurrection of Christ.
On this occasion, divine services were held in churches across the country and thousands of Moldovans went to holy places to take in the holy light. This year, the Haric Fire from Jerusalem reached our country.
In his Pastoral address, Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau said that this holy day unites heaven and earth today, giving us all an occasion for joy and spiritual rejoicing "the desired and saving feast has come to us, the day of the Resurrection of Our Saviour Jesus Christ, the foundation of peace, the reason for reconciliation, the end of wars and trampling of death".
The Easter celebrations last for three days.
In 2025 the Orthodox Easter will be celebrated on 20 April.
