Chisinau, May 8 /MOLDPRES/ - A scientific conference - Strengthening Romanian scientific space in European context was held today at the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (AȘM).

Scientific secretary of the Romanian Academy Ion Andronache said that it is very important to consolidate science in the European context.

For his part, ASM President, Academician Ion Tighineanu said that in the context of the favourable situation, the ASM and the Romanian Academy have initiated an unprecedented rapprochement of the two sister academic institutions.

"The Joint Academic Action Plan, approved on 4 April 2023 and updated on 2 April 2024, has opened new horizons for the creation of a common Romanian scientific and cultural space. Today's event, included in the Joint Action Plan, is a nice initiative of the two Academies to celebrate Europe Day together and to highlight the contributions of the academic environment to promoting the image of Romanian science and culture in Europe and the world", he said.

"The Romanian Academy and the Academy of Sciences of Moldova represent two Romanian states - Romania and the Republic of Moldova - in the main international scientific forums. In the current circumstances, the joint efforts of the two Academies to promote a positive image of Romanian science and culture in the world is a call of the times. Moreover, it is very important that in the processes of European integration we do not lose our identity, that we promote our authentic values, that we protect and preserve our cultural heritage for future generations, that we make Romanian culture and secular traditions known on a transnational scale", Tighineanu said.
