Estimated quantity of 230,000 tons of grapes to be harvested for processing in Moldova in 2023. Price varies depending on quality
Chisinau, 14 September /MOLDPRES/ - Producers from Moldova in 2023 will harvest an estimated quantity of 230,000 tons of grapes for processing. A state secretary at the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry (MAIA), Andrian Digolean, today made statements to this effect. He provided details on the grapes’ selling price.
The official noted that the campaign of harvesting the white and red grapes was carried out in the central and southern Moldova. „The harvest is pretty good. In last mid-July, a harvest of 260,000 tons was scheduled. Because of the crisis of precipitation from the 2022-2023 years, the harvest will be of 230,000 tons. The phyto-sanitary state of the grapes is good enough. We will have good grapes and good wines,’’ the state secretary said.
Andrian Digolean referred also to the estimated selling prices price of grapes. ‘’Earlier, an estimated price of 6.54 lei per one kilogram was set forth. When visiting vine-growing and wine-making companies, I saw that the purchasing prices vary depending on the variety, destination, on quality, on the physical and chemical structure. All these components will lead to the procurement of grapes at different prices. Presently, they operate with prices varying between 4.5 and 5.5 lei per one kg. I visited the processors which have established long-term contracts on procurement of grapes and the prices are of 5-5.5 lei per one kg,’’ Digolean also said.
The MAIA state secretary said the process of procurement of grapes from vine-growers was carried out in a normal pace. ‘’MAIA, along with the National Office of Vine and Wine, speed up this process. Those who deliver and sell grapes at the vine-growing and wine-making units may come and submit the copy of the identity card, the title on plantations or the contract on lease and this allows them easily selling grapes; at the same time, processors submit these acts to the National Office of Vine and Wine and we will thus accelerate the process of registration of the vine plantations in the Register of vine and wine,’’ Digolean added.
According to statistics data, 71 million litres of wine worth 106 million dollars were exported in the first seven months of this year, which is by 34 per cent more against 2022.
