
Moldova became member of World Tourism Organization
Chisinau, Dec. 8 /MOLDPRES/- Moldovan tourism has reached a new stage of development, after the National Inbound and Domestic Tourism Association of Moldova (ANTRIM) became a member of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), a specialized agency for responsible and sustainable tourism that guides the global sector towards a growth favorable to inclusion. ANTRIM becomes the first and only sectoral association in Moldova, a member of the UNWTO, the US Agency for International Development announced yesterday.
"Last year, USAID, through the Activity of Supporting Competitiveness in the Light Industry and Tourism, supported the strengthening of ANTRIM's capacities as a leading institution of the sector, for the development and promotion of the tourism offer of the Republic of Moldova abroad. During this period, ANTRIM increased its ranks and reached 100 members, and Tourist Information Centers were opened in Găgăuzia, Orheiul Vechi, Țâpova, Nisporeni, Călărași and Străseni", the quoted source said.
The Activity of Supporting Competitiveness in the Light Industry and Tourism, an EDGE project in Moldova, USAID-funded, aimed at maintaining the Republic of Moldova on the global map as an authentic tourist destination, the development of the infrastructure and the tourism product. Last year, strengthening the resilience of the tourism sector has become a priority.
