New traffic safety system to be installed on road in southern Moldova
Chisinau, June 23 / MOLDPRES /- The State Road Administration (ASD) announced yesterday a new system to increase traffic safety, which will be implemented for the first time in the Republic of Moldova.
"In order to improve the level of traffic safety and comfort, for the first time in the Republic of Moldova, Demfer type impact attenuators are installed on the national road R3 Chisinau - Hancesti - Cimislia - Basarabeasca - border with Ukraine, km 11 and on the road R6 Chisinau - Orhei - Bălți, km 26 + 300 ”, ASD said.
According to the institution, the impact attenuators are mounted on the road sectors with a high risk of frontal collisions of motor vehicles. The purpose is to protect the occupants of the vehicles when they leave the road and collide with a rigid object outside the roadway.
The Demfer system is designed to gradually absorb the kinetic energy of the vehicle during the collision, thus causing a controlled stop, which can avoid the collision with the obstacle, while maintaining a limited amount of deceleration on the occupants of the vehicle.
The works are financed from the road fund.
